Our history
Sunmedic’s roots go back to 1996, when Dr. Karladani began applying negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) as the main treatment for severe soft tissue injury in trauma patients.
Dr. Karladani was a 42-year-old orthopedic surgeon and a trauma team member at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden.
He has conducted a series of research in the field of treatment of tibial fracture, and he received his Ph.D. in 2001.
His fascination with NPWT was aroused when he gained experience in healing severe soft tissue injuries with NPWT instead of performing difficult and risky (Tog bort free) vascular muscle transplantations.
